Curious how I make hundreds of dollars a day on Etsy with my NEW Etsy shop selling digital and printable documents? Stay tuned because I am going to give you all the details on how I launched a successful shop in 2021 as a non-creative beginner.
Today I am going to share with you EXACTLY my strategy for creating and selling printables on Etsy. This strategy has allowed me to make a product once, and then resell it over and over again. I typically make anywhere between $150 - $200 per day and my shop has been officially open for around a month.
Keep in mind, you can pick up the *Best Selling* 27+ page Etsy Success Guide from my shop that provides tons of resources, workbooks, checklists and activities to lead you through each of these steps!
Before we jump into the strategy part, let's talk about what an Etsy printables shop actually is. A printables shop is a shop where you sell digital or printable documents that shoppers then download and either print or utilize digitally.
Examples of printables would include:
Wall Art
Checklists
Journals
Planners
Workbooks
Coloring Sheets
Etc., Etc., Etc.
The list, literally, goes on and on.
Being able to have a printables shop allows for me to create a document once and resell over and over again. I don't have to worry about:
Inventory
Shipping
Raw Material
Etc.
Not to mention- printables are affordable for customers and can be purchased without much consideration by prospective clients.
Printables allow for a stream of truly passive income that requires very little maintenance while having the ability to make a significant impact on your income.
How To Create An Etsy Printables Shop
Today we are going to dive into the step by step process on how to create an Etsy Printables Shop. I am going to outline the framework we are going to cover in this workbook.
Each of these categories are going to allow you to get crystal clear on WHAT you want to market, how you'll market it and how you can start earning income from PRINTABLES on ETSY starting TODAY.
Step 1: Find Your Niche
Your niche is the general category of your shop and to identify this.. you're going to have to do some homework.
Before we dive into the research, let's get clear on what type of items you're going to LOVE to have on your shop.
The perfect formula for defining your niche is: Experience + Values + Passions = The Perfect Etsy Shop Niche
Take some time to brainstorm these three areas and then, at the end, brainstorm some ideas of what your general category will be. From there, you can review each general category you're interested in to identify potential offers, price points and whether or not it's a validated business idea.
At this point of the video, I want to invite you to check out my 27+ page Etsy Printables Shop Success Guide- the link is in the comments. It's SUPER affordable and leads you through all of these steps with tons of worksheets, homework, examples and more. So if you want the perfect workbook to help you launch your DREAM printables business, check out the link down below; it has 6+ pages dedicated SOLELY to identifying your niche.
Step 2: Identify Your Ideal Customer
Now that we've identified our niche, let's identify our "Ideal Customer." These are YOUR people! YOUR community! The ones who you will serve the most effectively! These will be your shoppers!
Let's get ultra-clear on your ideal customer. This will help us with creating products and position our marketing to the RIGHT people!
Think about the TYPE of person you WANT to attract?
What is their name?
What are their demographics?
What is their occupation?
Do they have a family?
....and most importantly:
how would your product help your ideal customer reach their goal, what objections would they have and what are their pain points.
Do not skip this part. Having a solid understanding of WHO you're trying to attract is the KEY to turning an Etsy printables business from a hobby to a money-making business.
Step 3: Create Your Shop
We are to the fun part; creating your shop! And, you can't have an Etsy shop without a shop name!
First, write down all your shop name or ideas (or use a cool name generator like this one) in the space below.
Then, go through and GOOGLE & search Etsy with the name ideas you have. This will identify your competition. They may not be your direct competition BUT they will be competing with you for traffic. Getting found in search is how 99% of shops make money in their first 6 months so select a name that doesn't have a lot of competition.
Once you have your name, go to Etsy and create your free account and develop a bio that is going to speak DIRECTLY to the pain-points of your ideal customer!
Step 4: Identify Your First Product
Now we need to figure out what the first item will be that we host on our shop! Take a moment to go through your brainstorm of offers and select what item will be your first document. I recommend starting off with a more simple design to begin with.
Step 5: Develop Your First Digital Product
It's EASY to design printables using a FREE site/app called Canva. You don't need experience in graphic design at all. If you can write an email, you can easily create printables in Canva.

Step 6: Develop Listing Photos
Now that you've created your digital product, we have to create the photos that you'll use on your listing to showcase how amazing your product is.
In general, you should create between 6-8 photos that showcase your products. Here are some tips:
Download your final PDF document and then upload screenshots or photos of it back into canva. You will use these images to create mock-ups
Use other listing photos as inspiration
Answer customer questions with images
Include a "How To Download" page
Make sure images are not blurry
Step 7: List Your Product
It's time to list your item for sale. Let's go through the various components of a shop listing.
1) Listing Images: be sure to upload at least 6-10 listing images that are of clear quality. Additionally, I always recommend that you create a video as listings with videos get much more exposure.
2) Listing Title: Use keywords that you're ideal customer is going to use when searching for your items. This is how your product will be found.
3) Description: Include all of the details for your customers. This should include all features included, return policy, sizing outline, etc.
4) Price & Quantity: Price your item competitively based on the research that you've done in the past. Keep in mind, lower prices DO NOT mean. more sales so stay within the average price point for similiar products.
5) Upload & List: The final step is to upload your file of your digital product. If your product is something that is customizable in canva (the Family Reunion Invite as an example), create a PDF flier in canva with a link to the shareable canva file.)
Step 8: Promote Your Product
One of the best things about Etsy is that Etsy promotes your product on your behalf based on the search terms users are utilizing. However, you shouldn't rely just on Etsy to drive traffic to your page.
Here are some ways to get FREE traffic to your Etsy shop!
Pinterest
Tiktok
Social Media
Create a Mailing List
Step 9: Review Your Strategy
CONGRATS! Your new Etsy printables shop is up and running! I am SO proud of you! Now we need to utilize the statistics features within Etsy on a monthly basis to figure out if changes need to be made to your site.
This would include reviewing your statistics and monitoring your analytics.
